When Toronto-based “foodie” couple Jeff Kirker & Karrie Galvin make a change – they go all the way. A few years ago, chef/food stylist Galvin & sommelier/businessman Kirker sold their downtown Toronto home and relocated to Lakefield, Ontario to fulfill their lifelong dream & return to Chef Galvin’s roots (she was raised 10 minutes away in Bridgenorth, ON).
The couple purchased a rambling, three-storey house from the early 1900’s to restore (with their own two hands!) and turn into their home and restaurant. With original wood flooring & stained glass restored to its former glory, the couple has been enjoying life as restaurant owners since this past June.
Riverhouse Co. includes local, seasonal & sustainable organic foods with a menu that changes with the seasonal harvest. The restaurant is fully licensed to serve local brews of tap as well as a varied wine list available by glass or bottle. With 28 seats inside & 35 seats outside, the establishment has begun with the serving of lunch and dinner and will grow its hours from there.
With work in such Canadian culinary institutions as Toronto’s Canoe & Banff’s Buffalo Mountain Lodge between them and Ms. Galvin’s established career as on-camera Chef (on Food Network Canada’s Road Grill) and the hundreds of television food series she has worked on as food stylist, Riverhouse Co. promises to provide delicious cuisine for locals, tourists & city-folk alike. Riverhouse Co. is located at: 36 Bridge St.Lakefield, ONK0L 2H0
